Review and Content Policy
**Effective date:** June 1, 2026
Reviews are the foundation of trust on Scout. This policy explains what
makes a valid review, how we handle disputes, and what content is and
isn't allowed.
1. Who Can Leave a Review
Only customers who have completed a job through the Scout platform may
leave a review for a provider. Reviews are **verified** — they are linked
to a real job record in our system.
You cannot:
- Review a provider you have not hired through Scout
- Review a provider you have a personal relationship with
- Leave more than one review per job
- Review your own business
2. What Makes a Good Review
A helpful review:
- Describes the actual service experience
- Is specific about what was done well or poorly
- Is at least 20 characters long (required)
- May include up to 3 photos of the completed work
We encourage honest, constructive feedback — both positive and negative.
3. Content Standards
Reviews and all user-submitted content must:
- Be truthful and based on genuine first-hand experience
- Not contain hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language
- Not contain personal attacks, threats, or harassment
- Not include private information about another person
(addresses, phone numbers, etc.)
- Not be spam, advertising, or promotional content
- Not contain profanity or sexually explicit material
4. What We Will Remove
Scout will remove a review if it:
- Was not submitted by a genuine customer of the provider
- Contains demonstrably false statements of fact (e.g., "this person is
a convicted criminal" without basis)
- Violates the content standards in Section 3
- Was submitted in bad faith as part of a coordinated attack on a provider
- Was submitted in exchange for compensation
We will **not** remove a review simply because:
- The provider disagrees with the rating
- The customer had a negative experience
- The provider believes it is unfair
5. How to Dispute a Review
**Providers:** If you believe a review violates this policy, email
[email protected] with the review ID and your reason. We will investigate
and respond within 5 business days. We will notify you of our decision.
**Customers:** If your review was removed and you believe this was in
error, contact [email protected] within 14 days.
Scout's decision on review disputes is final.
6. Provider Responses
Providers cannot currently reply to reviews publicly. This feature is
planned for a future release. In the meantime, Providers who have concerns
about a specific review may contact support.
7. Review Integrity
Scout reserves the right to investigate unusual review patterns, including:
- Multiple negative reviews from the same IP address
- Reviews submitted immediately after a dispute between customer
and provider
- Reviews that appear coordinated or inauthentic
Providers or customers found to be manipulating reviews will have their
accounts suspended.
8. Reporting Content
To report any content that violates this policy, email [email protected]
with a description of the content and the reason for your report.
9. Licence
By submitting a review or photo, you grant Scout a non-exclusive,
royalty-free licence to display and use that content on the Platform
and in Scout's marketing materials. You retain ownership of your content.
10. Contact
